R3LT bloggings of week 2

Our two monarch caterpillars are now in a Chrysalis. Greedy crawled up toward the ceiling and is behind the heat pump but Tigger stayed on the swan plant. We made holiday pictures and we finished them. Mr Harris read us two stories and we played t-ball on Tuesday afternoon. Jack came to join the R3LT on the 12/2/09. Miss Scott is not sick anymore and back with us. We started subjects like reading, maths groups and author time this week. It was Adie's birthday this week and we hope she had a great birthday. We wish Ms Taylor a great birthday on Saturday. This week we finished our name tags and put them onto our desks, browsing boxes and trays.

This is what we are up to!

This week in maths we have been learning about money and how to make the same sort of money different ways. WAL Walrus is back from Outram School with a new bag and in it was letters with lollipops and balloons and little cards from Room 9 Outram School kids. Some kids in Room 3 Learning Team have two email buddies. We are gonna email them soon. Kesi's email buddy is Lauryn and Aidan's is Tessa. In art we have been doing observational drawing it's been fun. We have been doing Swimming and learning Roly-Polys backward and forwards and how to backfloat. This week is the last week of term.

Maori Language Week

The first week of Term 3 was also Maori Language Week. In Room 3 we made a chart of what we wanted to learn to say in maori. We listened to the Maori legend, Maui and the Sun, then we retold the story as a class. The whole school went into three groups of kids who did some maori activities. We did stick games with Miss Barnett, printmaking koru patters with Miss S and singing with Mrs Jewiss and Ms Taylor.

This week we also made a marca in the art room as part of our Sound Inquiry we are finishing from last term.

We had a great Maori Language Week!
