Highlights of our year so far

The Room 3 Learning Team have had many exciting learning experiences so far in 2008.

Some of your highlights from Term 1 were...
  • Meeting WAL Walrus our class learning buddy for the year.
  • EOTC (Education outside of the Classroom) Week. During that week we went to the Gourmet Ice Cream and Chocolate Factory, created our own ice cream art, had a sleepover at school then walked to Woodhaugh Gardens for games and lunch. We even feed the ducks! It is certainly a highlight of the year. The year 4 students went to stay the night at the museum with Room 5 instead of sleeping over at school.
  • Learning and playing rippa rugby.
  • Jump Rope for Heart.
  • Reading the BFG as a class.
  • Whole School Buddy Reading and Writing.
  • Visit from Dog Control.
  • Visit from Kaila's puppies.
  • Easter and making our own easter wrappers to wrap yummy easter eggs
  • Visit from Ronald McDonald who was talking about road safety.
  • Making ice cream to see how cooling changes the state of milk.
It was a great term!!!!!

Some of our highlights from Term 2 were...
  • Performing 3 maori songs at the Dunedin North Hui Ako.
  • Hearing stories by Paul Jennings.
  • Jump Jam.
  • A visit from 2 Otago Nuggets players and learning some basketball skills.
  • Having 2 student teachers working with us.
  • Starting our sound inquiry.
  • A performance by Bob Bickerton.
  • Making musical instruments like drums, pan pipes, bottle orchestras and musical cake tins.
  • Making our own aerobic DVD to help keep us fit and sharing this with our parents.
  • Achieving our writing goals during author time.
  • Making our own Maracas.
  • We got new games from the Friends of the School. We got Junior scrabble, Monopoly, Connect Four and Guess Who.
  • We found out that next term Sujata and Jayden would be coming to join the Room 3 Learning Team.
It was a very busy, fun and awesome term.

Please come back and read about Term 3. We are going to write a blog entry each week to share our learning with you.
